The Gift Of Travel
Toys get broken, jewelry gets lost, clothes shrink and fade but memories and experiences last a lifetime. One of the best memories I have during the holiday season or ANY season for that matter was when I surprised my daughters with a trip to Tokyo, Japan on Christmas Eve.
I don’t think I’ve seen them that excited since they were little kids. They were jumping up and down with joy and couldn’t contain themselves.
To this day, we STILL talk about that trip and how it was our favorite. We bonded through long train rides, language barriers, jet lag, which we now call #traveldrunk (there’s a video posted on my page about that one), food testing, and just overall living in the moment….in JAPAN!!
I learned several years ago that all the material things that we bought them would fade from their memories AND mine. Half the time, I couldn’t remember what I bought them. However, I still remember this trip and they do too. The trip comes up in random conversations because there’s so much that happens in life that we can associate with that trip.
The ipads, ipods and designer clothes that they received over the years never come up in conversations like that. That let me know that the vacation was a wise investment. It wasn’t money wasted or forgotten.
I invested in their futures by exposing them to Japanese culture and even Disney culture abroad.
Oh yeah, I didn’t tell you that I also surprised them and took them to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.
Here’s something you might not know. Disney is wayyy CHEAPER outside of the country. Like, stupid cheap compared to here. All three of our tickets were only $183!!
A ticket to Disney World in Orlando is around $110 per person!! So, not only did we have a really cool experience, and got our passports stamped, I saved some moolah (cha ching).
If you’re wondering what to get your loved ones for the holiday or for their birthday, I would STRONGLY suggest that you invest in a vacation abroad, or even locally if international is out of your budget right now.
Speaking of budget…
It has come to my attention that most people, honestly, don’t know how to find cheap flights other than some glitch fair falling in their lap or an employee hook up.
Is that you?!!
If so, you need to take immediate control of your travel life and change that. It’s not difficult. It’s actually pretty easy once you know what sites to use and what features to click to make the sites spit out deals like a fountain.
I created a free training that I’m pretty sure will help put things in perspective for you. Click the link here to get your travel mojo in gear…
